I ordered two sofas from DFS which arrived in February 2008 and on delivery the feet were faulty.
The delivery guy arranged for the store to come out to change the faulty feet. This they did ( I had to take some time off work to allow the repair guy to do the work)
About 2 months later the springs came off the frame and sank in the middle. Again I had to arrange for the upholsterer to attend to make the repair again taking time off work
Then in October the lining began to come away from the arm of the sofa. I phoned the store to say that this was now unacceptable to have 3 call outs in the first 8 months of a Sofa life and asked for replacement sofas as I was totally dissatisfied with the quality of the sofas
The manager of the Basildon store said that they were in warranty and that they would fix them during this period . I argued that that is not the point and I do not want to be taking a day off work every 2 months for the next few years whilst I have my sofas fixed.
He continued to imply that it was not faulty workmanship but possibly that I had broke the sofa in some way as ‘it was unusual for this to happen’ and that my sofas were ex display models (which I hope they are not given it took 6 weeks for them to arrive
I am pursuing for replacements but as I purchased these via finance and the repayments have not yet started am I within my rights to not pay citing that the goods are not fit for the purpose they were provided
