    business electricity bill

Hi, I am writing to you in desperation. Is there anyway I can speak to you over the telephone or fax you my bill history over this last winter so you can see clearly what the problem is. I had my meter read on the 15th of September, and received a bill for £147 which I paid. I then get a bill upon bill throughout the winter ( my business closes at the end of September until May) the latest bill is for £2,236 which is ridiculous, especially as usage was for the winter when I am closed. They are now saying that I am tied into them 'British Gas' and my electric bill rates went up in December from a 7.9 to a massive 23, rate and if I signed up with them here and now they would reduce that to 12. I said I wanted to look for a competitive quote to which they said I couldn't as I was already tied to them anyway so I had no choice,, yet when they sent the new agreement they thanked me for choosing them which I didn't but had to do. I have been a BG customer for over 30years in that business and I am truly struggling to get to grips with all this mess.

    pearly boise:

As a business customer you would have been tied to a contract but not tied for ever. You need to obtain your contract and see what period and what rates you have signed up to.

There are possible answers to most of your concerns but its pointless discussing without knowing the tariff details, meter readings, and certain contract details such as contract length and requirements for notifying tariff changes and arrangements for contract renewal.

Unfortuanately I think you have allowed yourself to be unscrupulously conned.
