£58 Royal bank of Scotland charge

Thanks to RBS I am now £58 short this month for going overdrawn but the good news from the teller in the Arbroath branch is if this had happened this month I would only have been charged £5 talk about adding insult to injury??????

Not even a hint of guilt from her about RBS charging me £58 then again I have heard from other people in Arbroath about their service one was a pensioner who could ill afford their high charge shame on you RBS at least I can take this knock and suffer till payday but the more people I talk to about RBS high bank charges the more my eyes are opened.

I visted a site today and will try to claim bank these charges I would be grateful if any users have had a successful claim or have been shown the door by RBS

For their lack of help or understanding my prize for the worst bank in Scotland goes to the Royal Bank of Scotland Arbroath branch.

Still my £58 should help towards their debt problem RBS has 40 million customers worldwide they should charge each one £58 and hey presto there problems will be solved

The comment seems quite valid to me? Perhaps you should look to the recipiant rather than the sender.

Time at the bar, gentlemen, please. Can we get this thread back on topic, now? Thanks...

Jalexa's right - you can certainly vote with your feet and switch your account, but I think the question confusedbyrbs is trying to ask is:

Has anyone else been successful in re-claiming their overdraft charges with RBS over a similar issue?

Do you literally mean "re-claiming"? Re-claiming processing is still on hold except where there is hardship. In time the answer is probably the excess cost element of the charges will be refunded.

Perhaps you are asking if when asked nicely does RBS waive charges? I confess I don't know as I don't get caught, but I have read that at least on the first occasion there used to be a reasonable chance. I suppose it depends how much the person assessing the request values the custom going forward. And possibly not asking on the day that RBS just announced approximately one lost job per branch.

Apologies - poor choice of words on my part: being refunded an overdraft charge you deem to be unfair.

There are certainly ways to complain and ways not to (and appropriate moments too). I've mostly found that being impossibly polite (but firm) certainly helps. It's well worth remembering that the person at the end of the line or standing in front of you is not (necessarily) the person at fault. Regardless, they're almost certainly the person who will decide just how much help you're going to get...
