I advertise on Google with dotcomchrome.com which costs £125 per month and also yell.com which is £525 annually. In addition, I have busines cards which are in pet shops, etc. For the first month my advert with chrome was at the top of the first page which generated business but I am now further down the page on the sponsored links side and the phone has not rung for 2 weeks now, and it is the second month of advertising with them which I do appreciate is early days. As I am very new to advertising and have not done this before, can you please point me in the right direction on how to get my business promoted and the best way to advertise myself. Heres a bit about my situation when the floods happen last year me and my husband were financially effected which resulted in us unable to pay most of our debts including mortgages, we had just had a new baby and was in the middle of an extension being built which was obviously put on hold during this time. After a couple of months my husbands wages picked up and i made offers to creditors to pay back the arrears occured during this time, but because all creditors were affected, they all wanted their arrears paying up more or less at once some were pleasant and some were real a**es. As a result i couldn't play catch up. Now we are in the position where my car has been repossessed by a high court enforcer and the finance company requested a charging order to be applied which was dismissed by the courts last week, as the payment i was offering was satifactory and there is no equity in our property. Also we are due in court on the 19th november for a suspended possession order to be placed on the property. Most of our debts are with collectors and they are mainly store cards and catalogues. When reading through the forums I don't think an IVA is the best option but to deal with the bullies head on because if we were to get shut of the catalogue and card debts we would be more comfortable financially and should not occur any further mortgage problems. Please can someone tell me i am right it my way of thinking and put any suggestions forward on dealing with collectors in a professional manner. Many Many Thanks for taking the time to read this guys.

direct debit

i really need some help here, i have been informed by a debt coll agency that because i have let my d.d. lapse i should make an offer and then if accepted it would be better for me if i set another direct debit up by using my debit card i am completely thick with regards to banking and anything to do with finances but i have NEVER heard of this before and am worried he may be tricking me into locking myself into something i will be unable to get out of or even taking more money from me than needs be, please is there anyone out there that can help me, i am pulling my hair out here and i HAVE to phone him tomorrow, to let him know about my incomings and outgoings, i am disabled and have not worked since 2000 since the start of heart trouble, so there is no chance of getting more finances from anywhere plus i am nearly 60 so even if i were fit i am well over the hill in the job prospects but i do feel like i am being bullied even tho this guy spoke nicely top me and apologised for the way a female colleague spoke to me 2 weeks ago, not trying to offer me help and just telling me i should get it sorted out and it was my problem and she didnt have to do anything to help me, i did tell her how thick i am regarding money and that i didn't have the first idea as to how about getting help on my side, all i got was '' tough '' so please i would appreciate any help that may be offered, regards - peewee59

Loan versus Balance Transfer

i have a loan with nationwide which I topped up over the years and the outstanding balance to settle in full is £6,726 . I got rid of PPI and my fixed repayment is £208.34 a month. I have to pay this up to 6 years to settle by then the year will be 2013 by that time I would have paid more than I owe due to interest which would make it £15,048.00. which is bludey ridiculous. I want to pay off the loan quick within 2 years. I looked at a various loans on compare websites and if I borrowed £7000 for 24 months (2 years) to pay off the loan then I'd only have to pay an extra £112 per month on top of what I'm paying now so total repayment would be £7,695.36. excluding PPI and Insurance cover. A friend had advised me to get a virgin credit card balance transfer at 0% interest 15 months but not sure about this as read a few reviews on Virgin Card and customers were not happy with the service as some had said that you get charged high fees if money is paid late into account and they change days when to withdraw the money, so not sure about this. SO I was wondering whether I should get another loan to pay this balance of £6,726 in 2 years as I can afford to pay more per month than the current loan I have. or opt for credit card 0% interest at 15 months. Any comments would be appreciated. I opened an Alliance and Leicester Easy ISA account for some of my Icesave money and was told by them that I would be able to split my Icesave money between different ISA accounts. I sent my certificate with my first deposit at the beginning of January and then heard nothing. I phoned several times in January and Feb as I needed proof that the remainder of the money was ISA protected. They are investigating what has happened but say it will take weeks and may go past the deadline in April. Now I think that I should have put all the money into one new ISA and that their advice was wrong. Any advice or similar experience?

0845 calls - NO MORE THAN 5P A MIN...

Nowadays the vast majority of companies have customer service lines open to extend outside peak times. Therefore I think I am correct in saying that many of us can call 'geographic numbers' (01, 02 etc) for up to 60 mins or 70 mins 'free'. I know that 'moneysavingexpert' has waged a long standing war against 0845 numbers and others. If you agree with me that, on the face of it, 0845 is a cheek does anyone have any ideas on how 'we' could protest effectively? OR If I have missed something like 0845 is an indirect charge to the customer which would simply be slapped on somewhere else, please tell me. And finally, I have purposely left all other numbers out of this post and particularly '0870' because that is expensive and known to be so, so that is another post. I appreciate that people like to 'get off the point' and that is 'custom and practice' BUT I would like to request that no other numbers like 0870 are brought into getting off the point. Thank you, franc.

Capital Gains Tax

Just a quick thread to see if someone could shine some light on what seems to be a complicated area. My parents have their own house for sale, but also want to sell the house they inherited from my grandmother. They inherited her house around 2002 and since then rented it out to a family member for a nominal amount. However they have spent considerable amounts updating the property to its current high standard. As things stand I understand that if they sell both properties Capital Gains Tax will be due on the property that is not their main residence. However if they sold their house and moved into the second house is there a timescale they would need to be at the address before it is classed as their main residence or if they sell each house in a different tax year ( april to april) would this suffice? I know we will need to get expert advice but I just thought I would get a few opinions first Thanks for your time in advance.

lost life insurance policy document

Hi, I took out a joint life insurance policy for myself and my husband and had been paying the premiums till his death recently. I have put in the claim to the life insurance company and they are requesting I return the original policy document which I cannot ever remember receiving and did not think about until now. Obviously I cannot find it! Without this they say I need to take out a lost life policy indemnity and that this could cost a few thousand pounds due to the sum insured. We did not have this attached to a house or anything else and was just a life insurance policy not endowment or other. I am not sure what this is and why I need to pay for a policy to indemnify the insurance company when I have all the other details and can prove that I am the beneficiary of the policy which I need to do anyway. Surely an afadavit should be sufficient.! He did not leave a will and iIhave put in the probate forms which I also need in order to submit this indemnity policy request. Please can you advise on this subject. Any information/suggestions/advice would be gratefully received. I have been told this is a 'cash isa privilege' and gives 3.5% (net), I don't understand APR. If this interest rate is correct I'm quite happy to leave it there, but is this correct? and if not is there a better option? Why can I not find any reference to 'privilege' account in newspaper or internet? My accessible savings (without penalty) is an esaver with Prinicipality BS. I find the ability to transfer money out, and more importantly into this account from my bank very easy. There is no penalty to withdraw which also suits me. With the interest rates as they are, is there a better interest rate (2.4%) around with an esaver account that has no penalty for withdrawals. I have contemplated opening up a few e accounts in order to move my savings around when an interest rate suits. I don't want any risk at all. Hope you can help.

Crown currency Exchange

Dear Expert We are travelling to Europe in March. The money we get from the business would tide us over until i get a full time job and help to pay off small debts it would be ideal - please dont tell me the bank will want it straight back??????? thanks

cancelling new car agreement

I recently went to a honda dealership and after hours of persuation, signed for the agreement of deposit and trade in of old car. im due to sign all of the paperwork for the car and finance tomorrow. i may add i have no keys, signed no logbook, just signed for the trade in and 300 pound deposit. i have now changed my mind and do not want to buy the car. can anybody tell me if i am within my rights to cancel still?

Buying Euro's

I am due to go to Germany for a few days next week to visit some relatives. I am concious that the Euro against the pound is very weak at moment. I was wondering whether anyone would know the best way of getting around this. Would i be better off transferring money to my relatives German bank account and then withdraw money there? Any advice would be gratefully appreciated.

Re-negotiating a Fixed Rate Deal

I have a 3 YR fixed rate deal at 6.64% with a 5 % redemption fee, took out 6 months ago for a BTL. Ive read the form but I dont know whether its a good idea to send the form back with in the free self addresses envelope. "Open offer by HBOS plc to qualifying shareholders to apply for £1.3839 open offer shares for every one Existing HBOS shares at 113.6 pence per Open Share Offer [ayable in full on application by no later than 11am on 9 January 2009". I just cant work out what id be signing up too, ive got 189 ordinary shares, Number of open offer options comprising my open offer entitlement is 261 and it says the amount i must payfor the 113.6 pence per open offer share if i apply for my full entitlement is £296.49. Can anyone give me a brief break down about what this is about and is it actually worth me buying these open offer shares, because all this is quite confusing and i wouldnt want to miss out on a bargain and i wouldnt wanna lose any more money, as ive lost over £2,200 in the last 3 or 4 months on stocks and shares. Any help would be much appreciated, Kind Regards, Marcus

Probate Valuation Query

I’m in the process of applying for probate on my dad’s (who died recently) estate. Specifically filling in HM Revenue and Customs form “Return of Estate Information”. I have just found that I need to provide a valuation of the house and contents, even though everything was in joint names with my mum who survives him and will continue to live in the house. Does anyone have any tips on how I go about this as I have NO idea of the value of the house OR the contents, which include some valuable antiques and pictures. ALSO, as no Inheritance tax will be due, why do I have to provide this information now, AND could HM Revenue & Customs insist on a professional valuation? Any help with this situation would be hugely appreciated. Thanks in anticipation and advance!

Transfer of mortgage into sole name

I am going through a divorce and within the settlement, it has been agreed that the house and outstanding amount owed £90,000 be put in my name. We have a Cheltenham and Gloucester SVR mortgage currently 4%. I have spoken to the lender who says it is no longer possible to transfer and that I need to take out a new mortgage. Why is this so? I only want to remain on existing terms but in sole name?! Seems they want me to take out a new product - new product fee, and tracker or fixed as they no longer offer SVRs. This doesn't seem fair. I agree that I need to prove I can meet repayments etc. but why are they allowed to refuse to remove a name these days. Many thanks

Got no credit and cant get no credit!!!

This is really stressin me out!! I have two phone contracts on two different phone networks and have done for over two years now, im great with payments so dont understand why i have no credit, surely if you can be accepted or declined for a phone contract this should count towards my credit score. Its like they want you to take out a credit card and get yourself in debt cus they will sure show on your history!! bad credits fine, as long as your showing.I kno people who have terrible credit but get accepted for loans and store cards all the time and people like me, good payer, reliable but dont get a chance Help!!!

the AA 1 Year Trigger Guaranteed Equity Bond (Issue 2)

The information on there web site states the following, The term runs for one year from the end of the offer period (31 January 2009) until the maturity date (29 January 2010).
