I have been looking at a few places online but am getting mixed reviews when i have been doing some research on getting the free gifts and how reliable they are! Phones 4 U (http://www.phones4u.co.uk/shop/shop_contract_details.asp?ItemKey=243588&MPItemKey=250233) I have read so far that people have not recived the gifts and phones 4 u have not taken responsibility for the free gifts Carphonewarehouse I have read so far that they sometimes ship the gift otherwise they don't or you have to wait ages for the free gift to arrive Mobiles.co.uk i have read here very mixed reviews about bad customer service even tho they are part of the cpw group and they dont want nothing to do with the free gifts either or they claim for the phone to be instock when its not. (http://www.mobiles.co.uk/o2-samsung-g600.html) (http://www.mobiles.co.uk/o2-lg-cookie.html) Buy Mobiles.net I have never heard of this company and didnt really find much when doing some research apart from one person saying when there phone broke they took no repsonsibilty for the phone being broken and when they did fix it they took ages to replace it (https://www.buymobilephones.net/mobile-phones/LG/LG-KF750-Secret-Free-FREE-Sony-PS3-80GB/63,4206) Are there any reliable companies that i should use that deffently ship the phone and the ps3 together and dont make you just threw loop holes. I did look in to auto cash back and cashback buy redemption but its looks very risky anyways I am in my last month of my contarct and it finnally end on 16 March 09, Also when is the cut off dates for 02 for there billing period as tmobile is midnight on 17th for the bills to be made up for the 18th of the month and then they direct debit the money on the first week of every month usually happends around 1st to 5th

laptop to internet via mobile abroad!- silver surfer -help please

Recently retired, hubby and I are going to make the most of things by travelling for several months of the year - mainly Europe this year but further afield next year . We would like to connect our laptop ( windows XP) to the Internet via the mobile phone ( has data card slot, hasnt got wireless) for email and some surfing .Our mobile is ancient so I am more than happy to get a new one. We currently use 02 pay as you go because in Uk we are VERY infrequent users! 02 worked well roaming in Europe and South Africa, not sure about elsewhere. Please help with any or all of these questions...... 1) We need an up to date, easy to use handset that gets web pages easily and in normal html format. 2) What do I buy to connect the laptop to the mobile - I'd want to use it as a mobile as well as through the laptop. .. 3) Would the laptop connected via the mobile 'roam ' like the handset does ? 4) Pay as you go for Internet access abroad? Is this possible and if so which network? 5) What is a global sim card ? Would a global sim card make it easier to use my mobile and laptop in different countries. If so would i buy a new phone with global sim card ? I cant be the only traveller wondering what is the easiest and cheapest way to use a laptop and stay on the net and travel! MUCH gratitude if anyone can help here, especially answers in words of one syllable! carole

A Christmas Phone

I am wanting to purchase a new mobile phone for my wife. At present she has a very old pay as you go phone, which she spends about £10 - £20 a month on. I know that she would like a new phone and has hinted that one with a camera would be ideal. Apart from some texts sent now again it would be used mainly as a phone and not much else. My family are also keen to have a Nintendo Wii and Wii fit this year, therefore do I get the phone on its own or do I get a package deal? I have seen some recent reviews that suggest that it might be better to get all this separately, what do you recommend? I'm new to this forum, after looking for advice on how I go about getting out of my 3 mobile contract. For the past 3 month, I have received bills of over 120 pounds (122, 145 &170) when normally I would only be paying around 50 pound. I have 750minutes talk time with unlimited texts which is 38+vat. For some reason my talk time was alot more than normal, where I blamed a problem I was having; hence the looking into cancelling contract. What was happening was even though I had a signal on my phone, when making a call, before it connected it was saying call Ended 0:00. I check my recent bill and realised I had alot of 1 minute phone calls and thought that i was being charged a minute talktime everytime I made a call under a minute, even though it wasn't connecting and the reason I had a lot of them was at times I had to try 10 times just to get through. I argued the case as I couldn't think of anything else as I knew I hadn't used my phone any more than normal. I also assumed that I had always been charged a minute for a call under 60 seconds. Sorry to blabble on... Now to the point... I have just realised that my bills were never over 50 pound in the past cause they never used to charge me a minute talk time for under 60 seconds calls, and it is only something they have introduced..... They claim to have sent me a letter sometime in August which I never got... They say to up my tariff, which I feel is unfair as I signed my contract, based on per second billing, which suited me fine as 750 minutes was ALWAYS amble..... Now!!!!! I'm receiving bills for WELL over 100 pounds... Do I have grounds to cancel my contract????

mobile phones

Could you please tell me what phones are compatible with the apple mac computer?

mobileshop.com does not give cashback

mobileshop.com has told me for a long while that they got technical problem regarding cashback, but would like to give me argos gift card. They use Equifax and I've been told that 02 are quite hot and strict on the credit check. I DO have an Orange phone and always pay on time and know that it's recorded on Experian (not sure if it's on Equifax as well). Does this mean my credit file is better nowadays? I applied for a contract on 02 about 5 months ago and got declined. Why all of a sudden are they accepting me now? Are they getting more relaxed due to the credit crunch letting anyone pass in the hope to get at least some money from people?! I have a problem with the handset. The handset heats up so quickly that I could not speak for more than 3 minutes and also can’t keep the mobile near my ears. I called customer service on 10-Mar-08 to complain about it. They told me that its a known issue with Nokia 6120 and 3 is talking with Nokia to solve this. I asked them that If the already know about the problem they could have advised me not to take this phone. They told that they will REPLACE my Nokia 6120 with Nokia N73 and will be a door-step exchange. He then checked for availability and told me that 3 do not have N73 stock right now and told me that I am in 14 day cooling period until 18-Mar-08 and asked me to call next day if stock has arrived so that they could exchange the handset. I called 3 customer services today (11-Mar-08) to enquire about the availability of N73. One of the CS staff from exchange team was rude and told me that they cant replace Nokia 6120 with N73. I told her that I was infomed yesterday that I will be given N73 as there is a known fault with 6120 handset. So asked sorry for what they told yesterday about the exchange and now they can only give me another 6120 (which again will have the same heating issue as its a known issue). I asked then what happens if the new handsets that was given also has the same heating issue. They replied that they will repair the handset.; My concern is 1. Since am in the initial 14 days period, can I cancel the contract? 2. If not can I demand for N73 which they offered yesterday and then denied today? Our assurance from the sales person at Phones4U was you won't find a better deal - plus you have a 14 day return period. Today, on the 9th day after the purchase with Phones4U I returned to the shop with the phone and attachments. During this 9 day period the new phone had remained unused, other than trying the new camera and charging the phone. Having been asked by the manager the reason for returning the phone to which I told him 'cost' he called a colleague across and began examining the phone under the spotlight. To my amazement 'I'm sorry it's damaged and not in perfect condition', came his reply. Upon very close inspection he pointed out two minute scratches. I questioned him was the phone in perfect condition when I bought it? He stated the shop procedures were to produce a new phone from a box in front of a new customer - during our sales experience this procedure was not followed. I asked him to review the shop camera footage on the day we were in to ascertain what happened - surprisingly he didn't have access to it. I asked him for a copy of the selling procedures so I could determine if they had been followed or not - again nothing was available. The manager kept on returning to the point the phone was in perfect condition when we bought it - his assurance is surprising considering he did not serve us. He assured me his staff always followed the selling procedures despite the fact he could not allow me to review them. Whilst in the shop the manager called Phones4U Customer Relations - having initiated the call by referring to my complaint by an 'internal code' (e.g I have a customer with a 111 situation) the Customer Relations individual mirrored the managers view without deviation. One final point the manager chose to dwell upon - on asked how long I was in the shop for at the initail point of sale I said 'about an hour and a half'. The manager used this time period as a major factor in his defence - surely in the hour and a half you checked the phone thoroughly. Our time in the shop was not spent inspecting the new phone under a microscope and we were only given the phone in the last ten minutes. On reflection now I could not recommend Phones4U to a sole - the 14 day cooling off period is a joke at their discretion. Any comments would be appreciated. Thanks.

Where do I stand

I had a mobile phone contract with the Carphonwarehouse about 4 years ago which I cancelled by phone after about a year when the phone was lost and it was decided that the loss was not covered by the insurance. I have found out recently that the Carphonewarehouse have been taking £22 a month via direct debit from my account for four year. Now I know that this is partly my fault because it is my responsibility to check my bank statements and I accept that I am an idiot but this is ridiculous! After cancellation of the contract I did not receive statements from them informing me that I was paying them money each month. I have written to the Carphonewarehouse and had a response saying that they would look in to it but this was about two weeks ago. I have emailed their customer service 3 times requesting an update but have not had a reply. Without a reply or deadlock letter I can not take this further. I need some advice on what I can do about the poor customer service and where I stand with the payments. Will this be seen to be my fault and do I stand to see any of my money back if I pursue it. Any help gratefully received!

Orange Default

Hi I am probably looking at a long shot here but whilst with my ex-girlfriend i got her a mobile phone in my name, we split, she ran up an 800 phone bill which i struggled to pay (as i couldnt get the money off her) and now the account has defaulted. I was advised to take out insurance with a company that they recommended 'Fone safe' because of the risk of damage due to his heavy duty manual work. after two months or so he lost his fone. i notified t-mobile who barred the phone then advised me to ring 'Fonesafe' who informed me that they would not provide me with another phone as the store had not put him on my policy, when i queried this they then retracted that and said that i should have notified them and done it myself. I informed them that I had not ever received my policy only confirmation of the D/Debit details. I then got in touch with T-mobile to express my disappointment in them offering such a service and to express my feeling on the way I had been treated. But I am here with just two phones and three contact lines to pay for and no further forward to getting another phone unless i shell out and purchase another one myself. Does anyone have any advice on how I can get another phone either via insurance company or via mobile provider????

deceived by orange!!!!

my orange contract recently ended and i rang orange as i wanted to switch... i got put through to retentions who offered me this that and the rest of it to stay with them and i ended up signin upto to another 18 mnth contract. I was offered unlimited data usage which i was weary of but the agent told me not to worry it is unlimited and there will be no charge, she did not say anythin as to how long it was valid for. i was still a bit weary so before i went onto the internet on my mobile i rang orange jus to make sure, again i was told there would be no charge.... i rang another couple of times and was told the same thing. after browsin the net a few days, i rang again. i was told by the agent that data usage is NOT free and i had been charged for it. I wasnt happy of course and said to her what i'd been told. then i was put through to billing an was told that the agent did offer unlimited data usage bundle but didnt put it on my account. i was told that since it was there error they'd send my bill to be recalculated and have the charges removed and the bundle is now on. i was told that once the bill had been recalculated my account would be credited with the extra charges. About 3 weeks later i had a message left on my phone sayin that there has been a reply from the "recalc" departmnt. i rang and was told by a different agent to the one who left the message (he'd finished for the day) that my account will not be credited and i would have to pay any charge accrued from the data usage. i reiterated everythin i'd been told and the fact that i didnt want the bundle in the first place and was basically told tough. i said to the agent i agreed to the new contract with the bundle otherwise i wanted to leave orange, so if i dont have the bundle then i'd like to canx my contract and she said the 14 day cooling off period has expired and if i wanted to cancel now i'd have to pay £401.01.... i said that i shouldnt have to because the contract was offered to me on false pretences so it cant stand. the agent then said that she'd send it off for another recalculation and see what happens but no guarantees and they may say the same thing - o and it could take another 3 weeks! they cant do this can they????????

HOW TO UNLOCK SONY ERICSSON PAYG ON VIRGIN ? ?

Hi, I bought a Sony Ericsson with a Pay as you go Virgin Sim card 3 months ago. I have 5 Mobile's with Orange which are all in my name, two of them have been returned to be disconnected due to problems with the handset's within the first 28 days, Team leaders have authorised this as well. The other three are active and just have bills to be paid when the direct debits go out as normal. Last week I received a letter from a debt agency trying to recover an amount for Orange of about £600, at first I didn't understand what this was so i rang the company who told me that I haven't paid my bills with Orange and that a default had been placed on my credit file, so immediately i rang Orange and spoke to a Team Leader and told him everything. He found the accounts which should have been disconnected, one which was sent back two months ago the other 5 weeks ago, both handset I have received billing reminders for these, but because the handset were being returned i was told to just wait until they had been cancelled and i would receive a final bill with nothing to pay. Well they were still active and I had bills of about £300 to pay, so the guy immediately cancelled the one and raised credits for it as per notes on my account, the other i waited almost a week for him to track down which the result was the phone has been lost, but due to me having a tracking number as i sent it back by special delivery he then cancelled that one to. Now I still have a default on my account unlawfully put on there by orange due to incompetent staff and team leaders at orange, what can i do and can i gain any sort of compensation back from orange for this error of theirs and I'm pretty sure that I may be even able to cancel my contracts with them due to this, am I right in saying this? I am actually in the process of writing a strong letter to Orange's Executive Office for them to look at. Can anyone help me and let me know where I stand. I looked on the Companies House website. Mobile Media Systems Limited (company reg no. 04440806 reg 16/05/2002) & Mobile Affiliates Limited (company reg no. 05449717 reg 11/05/2005) have indeed been put into administration on 14/11/2007 but I also found that on 09/11/2006 Mobile Media Systems & Mobile Affiliates Limited registered as a limited company (company reg no. 05994003). It looks to me as though they knew they were having problems a year ago and setup this third company as a way of protecting themselves. This worries me in the fact that this third company has not been put into administration along with the other two and that they could therefore start trading again using this company. Here is a link to the Companies House website for anyone wanting to check this out. http://wck2.companieshouse.gov.uk/b43438d7fd2eb61501882b1ae90c3e87/wcframe?name=accessCompanyInfo Also can customers of Mobile Media Systems Limited & Mobile Affiliates Limited that are still owed cashback payments take action against this third company?
