Hi, Please please can you help. We sold our car some 6 months ago through a garage-one we've often used and trusted. They found a buyer and sold our car. The car is on finance under my husbands name, and the garage have not payed off the finance. We are still having to pay the £300 a month finance for a car we do not have. The garage knew when they sold the car it was on finance and that they would have to settle the amount. At first they re-embersed us the monthly payments, as the months went by and kept promising to pay. The finance company know the situation and are being quite good about it, but now are saying we shall get a bad credit rating if we keep missing the repayments. Is it against the law for this garage to knowingly sell someone a car which is on finance, and technically is that still not our car then? We are hassling them everyday to pay, and they keep promising but never do. What can we do? we can not continue to pay this £300 a month, the amount owed is £13,500 and we don't even have the car!
