Re: Gas & electricity meter query

Thank you for that...how much roughly would the electrician charge for the internal work. Would it be more than £1500 ?. I would like to give my parents a rough total cost.

    Thank you

Re: Gas & electricity meter query

Hello, the job will cost a lot more than that, for a new electricity supply its around £700 as the road has to be dug.on top you have to get an electrician todo the internal wiring and consumer unit.

The gas involves the road been dug again and a new supply point installing, you are taking more than double the above for gas, its not a cheap job by all means.

    Gas & electricity meter query

Hello. My parents are buying a house. It is unusual in that it was part of another house (the owner split them into 2 & is selling one). the problem is that the seller has said that the gas/electricity meter has not been divided into the 2 properties & that the second property runs from the main house. This is a cost they would have to pay seperate. I have not heard of this before & I am suspicious although i know its not a usual sale. A friend told them that it costs about £600-£700 to move a gas meter but i think this is different to just moving a meter. I don't know if their solicitor will enquire about it for them but i don't want them to end up with a huge bill they can't afford. I would be grateful for any advice about the costs involved. Thank you
