Help needed: re a train for trade course

    Hi

I enquired last year about a train 4 trade course online... then I was contacted asnd the person on the phone seemed pretty desperate. A week later I was visited by a man called John. He said he was to come and tell me about the course. Next thing I know I'm signing up for it (I'm not too good with salesman and saying no).

Anyhow, he did lie to me as I discovered later on but I never queried it.

I did explain to him that I was moving house and mid-divorce etc etc...

He said I'd be able to work round it.

a month or so later I haven't touched the course.

I then write to both the credit company and to train 4 trade requesting that I postpone the course to this June.

Train 4 trade accepted and I didn't hear anything from the Credit company .. A few months later I start getting notices saying I'm behind payment.

I never responded thinking I'm starting in june.

Now I'm being chased by a debt collector for £4000! Anyhow... I have since tried to cancel the course (I haven't even started it) but Train 4 Trade have said I can't. I've offered to pay a cancellation fee but they're just not budging.

Do I have any rights in this?

    Cheers

    Laura
