    Re: Insuring a maintenance order

Just joined so not sure whether you have resolved this! Yes you can, as there is an insurable interest, so it can be written as life of another with you as the proposer and your ex spouse as the life assured....you pay the premiums and you know that it is still in force. Quite a few divorce agreements are written with this as part of the financial settlement and that the spouse providing the maintenance should allow the cover to be implemented. I have recently completed a couple of these cases so pls advise if you require more assistance.

Hi Coyote & JJonly -- Not sure of which company in particular, but you are entiled as a dependent X relative to secure that awarded income, by insuring the life of another person even though you are divorced, this would have to be with that persons agreement of course.

JJonly:Can I insure the life of my ex husband whom, whom I'm dependent on through the courts, on a life time order?

I can see this situation increasing numbers at the establishments designed for women staying at Her Majesty's pleasure.

As it's your ex-husband, I'm going to say no. I'm not great with life assurance so I could be wrong... anyone else? Ian? Conmankiller?
