Re: mobileshop.com does not give cashback

I am having problems too and have written several emails, my last one saying they owed me 2 lots of cashbacks (£210) and my husband now has 3 payments outstanding, although one is not due to be paid until September.  I have said that it is unfair that payment is delayed because of their technical difficulty that is resolved, but causing delays, and refer them to their T&C's - one says "payments are processed within 60 days" and elsewhere it says "we aim to make payments within 60 days".  I have advised that I will take the matter further and they have just responded with a standard email about the problems they have had.  My husband has tried to telephone (same number as Jazz) and the phone has just rang and rang.

I do not see why I should accept vouchers, especially when I do not want to spend anything at the stores offered.  I do not mind waiting if I will eventually get my money, but I am not convinced.  I will complain to OFCOM and then look into the costs of claiming in the small claims court.

    Further message:

Guess what! I wrote to the managing director of Mobileshop threatening the small claims court unless I recieved my cashback and sent it recorded delivery.  Two days later I get an email saying my cashback payment is being processed and should be in my account next week.  I await events.

If anyone else is interested I sent the letter to:

     Ian McCall,

    Managing Director

    MobileShop.com Ltd

    Millennium House

    Fox Covert Lane

    Misterton

    Doncaster

    South Yorkshire

    aoppenheimer,

Just a note to say thanks. I saw your post and tried the same thing. 3 days later I have two emails promising cash for the two vouchers I am owed. Looks like I will be 90 quid better off next week with any luck.

     Cheers

Re: mobileshop.com does not give cashback

I thought I'd chip in as well. I tried 2 approaches, I emailed the regular customer services dept threatening the ombudsman and possible further action and about 5 days later I sent a letter by recorded delivery to the MD (Thank you very much for postal the address!) threatening small claims court to retrieve my money plus interest.

I subsequently received an email saying that my payment had been processed and I would be receiving the cashback soon. This payment has just turned up in my account a week later!

I received the email the same day that I posted the letter to the MD so it must have been the email that prompted the response. This is really good news! I just have to repeat this 3 more times to claim my subsequent cashback payments!!!

After this experience I will never deal with mobileshop again and will warn anyone any everyone I can off them. I think I will just go direct to the networks in future and avoid cashback deals after being stung by this.

Good job everyone who contributed to this success and good luck to all the others who try this route. It appears that mobileshop are only processing the claims that they have to to stop people taking further action. This makes me wonder if the business is going down and they're just trying to keep afloat as long as possible.

Let us know how your all claims progress. We could always organise a flashmob at the HQ. Pitchfork anyone? ;)

Re: mobileshop.com does not give cashback

Well, I sent my 14 day recorded delivery letter (which expired Monday 4th) and still no response, so I will give another 7 days and then suppose I should start small claims court proceedings.  I also feel they are having problems and now think they have so many letters they are ignoring any further ones.

    How fustrating!

Re: mobileshop.com does not give cashback

I forsee that I'm not going to be able to lay my hands on the remainder of the money they owe me as it looks like they're going down. :(

Bonghi, try reporting them to the ombudsman as well. I'm gonna be in the same boat in about a month when they don't pay my current pending claim. After this I will never take a cashback deal again.

Re: mobileshop.com does not give cashback

I thought this was the case when they first said they had problems.  I bought my last phone at the Phones4U shop and am claiming back half the monthly cost every 3 months.  I have had my first cheque with no problems.  I won't be using internet companies again, but thought I would have a go with a well known high street shop.

Perhaps I will accept Homebase or Argos vouchers after all.  Probably not worth the £30 to take them to the small claims court if they do not have the money.  Thanks very much for letting me know the situation.  Where do I find the details for the Ombudsman?  Worth a try I suppose.

Re: mobileshop.com does not give cashback

Hear's my experience. I contacted "Surrey county council Trading standards" and explanined them the situation. As per their advised I sent a letter mentioning 14 days notice and a threat, by recorded delivery to cashback claims dept. I didn'l receive any reply in 14 days. I contacted above SCCTS people again, as per their suggestion I sent Final notice of 7 days mentioning the threat again , along with previous letter. This time I sent the letter to both cashback claims dept and the managing director (name and address in one previous posts). Before the end of 7 days, I have received 2 emails so far, one each for every claim. I had 3 claims pending with them, I'll wait for 3rd email as well. As per their email money will reach within 3-7 working days. If atall I am not actually getting the money I am really going ahead with SCCTS's suggestion to file a case, even though the amount not big.

For all previous posts, thank you all for your advise. I'll also say that it's worth giving a try with this way. Mobileshop is not having problem with the money, it's with giving back to people.

Re: mobileshop.com does not give cashback

Has anybody received cashback after sending a recorded delivery letter?  A few have said that they have been told they will get the money, but nobody has confirmed that they have been sucessful.  My husband's claims are still outstanding, but I have had enough and am fed up of this long drawn-out process, so I sent an email a couple of days ago saying I will accept a Homebase/Argos gift card for 110% of the value, but no confirmation even of this yet.  For me, I have still had a good deal as I had half my cash back before mobileshop were having problems and it was going to be a "100% cashback claim" if I had received the other half.

I will let you know if I get the gift card.

    Thanks.

Re: mobileshop.com does not give cashback

See my earlier post. I had success, but I deduced that it was from an email I sent (even though I DID send the MD a letter too).

Re: mobileshop.com does not give cashback

As per my earlier post I had received email saying money is sent to my a/c, I got actually in my a/c yesterday. So sending notice worked. But I had 3 claims overdue, they have sent money for 2 only. So they are still playing ...

As the notice period is ending today, I'll contact SCCTS tomorrow to dicuss further actions.
