    SAGA - Motor Insurance Information

    Hi all,

Just thought I would create an 'unusual' thread. It's unusual because I rarely write raving reviews for insurance companies as the mainstream/direct insurers are generally rubbish. However, I've been reading recommendations made by 'BB' regarding SAGA and subsequently perused through their policy wording. They actually offer very good cover!

As BB has stated, it is quite common for people to go abroad for longer than 30/60/90 days. SAGA offer this free of charge and subject to wordings as per guide, although there are no unusual exceptions.

The only down side to SAGA is the maximim No Claims bonus they allow. This is quite low, hovering around 4. They do allow 2 claims within 5 years, which is pretty standard these days. However, if more claims were to be made the policy would drop to 0 NCD. That said, this is for over 50's and they do have an upper age limit so the likihood of claims is minimalistic compared to the average insurer. The replacement vehicle option is as standard but can be extended for total loss.

So, for those over 50... SAGA have the Vicissitude Seal of Approval! (NB: I have never used this company because I'm no where near old enough. I cannot comment on the level of service, or their claims handling. The policy, from the outset, seems to be well underwritten however).

http://www.saga.co.uk/finance/policy_docs/PDFs/Motor.pdf is a link to their policy wording, which is very user friendly and actually lists exclusions on the same page as inclusions! No hidden T&C'S! I like it!

    Good luck all!

Re: SAGA - Motor Insurance Information

They are fantastic for claims handling - my parents were involved in hit and run last year and I did most of the calls on their behalf.

The car was a 'write-off' and the cheque came within three weeks and physiotherapy and legal assistance started right away. Highly recommended!

    Lex.
