Re: to loan or remortgage or use savings

Your savings are likely to be earning less interest than you would pay on a mortgage or loan so, in my view, most of the money should come from there. Rather than thinking about taking a personal loan today in case of a rainy day in a couple of years, taking a personal loan on the rainy day might be better.

to loan or remortgage or use savings

Hi, am looking to fund extension to kitchen, about £20k. Is it best to get a personal loan for say 10/15 years, add to mortgage ( about 25 years to run), or to use up savings first. Guess the real question is should i use savings, about 10k to reduce amount needed to borrow, but then not have money in the bank should i be overdrawn each month or for a rainy day?
