    Will my DS (usb) charger - charge my Tom Tom Sat Nav ?

    The sat nav came without a mains charger and Tom Tom want almost £20 for a charger

    DS doesn't use the current - but the voltage should be the same - 5 volts ?

    Care needed I think. The DS chargers output is 5.2v I believe. I don't know what the TomTom requires.

    For my Garmin it came with a USB cable for updates from the garmin site. The USB connection also recharges the satnav when PC is on standby. For some reason the Garmin unit does not recharge when PC is in use as it switches on expecting an update. But by putting PC into standby, the garmin just goes into recharge mode.

    You can get tomtom mains charger from ebay and amazon for less than £5
