• Re: Bank decision speeds...

Weird. I've never opened an account like that online so can't really answer it but I would suggest a call to the bank to make an appointment to "open an account" as they're being so slow. They don't all credit check for all accounts, I didn't think they did for Step as it has no credit or borrowing facilities with ...

  • Re: reclaim2gain

Just read through the posts on this site and just wanted to add to it. I'm not a financial adviser or debt counsellor or in any way financially qualified but I am a Trading Standards Officer. I've been following the progress of reclaiming bank charges with interest as i've got some to reclaim myself and have been waiting for all ...

  • Re: Bank decision speeds...

Any account I've opened (including with NatWest who I do bank with) has been sorted at the time of application - or declined accordingly. I don't understand why you'd have to wait and as I understood, the Step account isn't one that they credit check for as it's only a basic account. Did you do this online or in person?

Oooopsie - had my last post removed (I think - I can still see it) cos my email address was in it. I've got details in my profile.

Happy to talk to you - or anyone going through this terrible stuff - there is light at the end of the tunnel, don't lose heart. There are many debt advice organisations available for professional advice, mine is only based on my own opinion and experiences (and doesn't necessarily reflect all the "correct" ways of doing things - ...

  • Re: Worst credit rating - light at the end of the tunnel

Oh and just an add-on, having read some of the other posts - I've not at any time needed to consider paying to open a bank account or for any kind of credit account - the less than perfect site that seems to have been the point of some debate on here appears rather dodgy to me....

  • Re: Unoticed missed payments

You can't get it taken off - the only thing you can do is have the debt marked as satisfied/settled once it's paid. You can have notice of correction added to your credit file if something is in dispute but unfortunately the cold hard facts are that once something is on your credit file (I guess unless you can prove that it's an error ...

  • Worst credit rating - light at the end of the tunnel

I'm new to this forum but joined because I've been reading some of the posts and have a great deal of empathy with people who are struggling to get on with bad credit ratings. I'm now getting back on track - not without a hell of a big decision but with my credit history if I can, I'm sure there's hope for most..!! I had huge ...

I did have... fully sympathise with you. I'm now a discharged bankrupt and starting again with a clean slate. I had close to £50,000 debt, several CCJs, debt collectors like vultures waiting to pounce and, considering all the options, I made what I feel was the best decision and I don't regret it at all. I'm on track now for ...
